World Physiotherapy Congress 2023 took place after the 20th General Meeting in Dubai.
Tim Nemeth and Līva Tiesnese gave a presentation on two papers produced by the Advocacy & EU and the Cancer Working Groups of the Europe Region.
PHYSIOTHERAPISTS’ PROFESSIONAL AUTONOMY IN THE NATIONAL HEALTH CARE SYSTEM IN THE EUROPE REGION OF WORLD PHYSIOTHERAPY: A SURVEY ANALYSIS
Tim Nemeth, 2nd Vice-Chair of the Europe Region and Chair of the Advocacy & EU Matters Working Group (A&EU WG), presented the survey analysis of the A&EU WG on the physiotherapists’ professional autonomy in the national health care systems of the countries of the Member Organisations of the Europe Region of World Physiotherapy.
With the results obtained in this survey, the Europe Region can assist Member Organisations by identifying key issues to create tailored messages to influence on policy makers through tailored advocacy actions. Additionally, the information can be used by researchers as benchmark data to further the physiotherapy profession

THE ROLE OF PHYSIOTHERAPY IN CANCER CARE
Līva Tiesnese, member of the Cancer Working Group of the Europe Region of World Physiotherapy, presented an e-poster on the document created by the members of the group during the period 2020-2022 on the role of physiotherapy in cancer care.
Research has shown that exercise can manage many side-effects of cancer and cancer treatment, reduce the risk of cancer recurrence and increase survival.
