During 30-31 May 2023, the 20th General Meeting of World Physiotherapy took place at Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and online.
Esther-Mary D'Arcy and Aitor Carpio GarcÃa, Chair and General Secretary of the Europe Region of World Physiotherapy respectively, attended the meeting in person.Â
Elections took place at the General Meeting for two positions, president and vicepresident. The following individuals were elected:
Michel Landry, member of Canadian Physiotherapy Association, was elected as president of World Physiotherapy; and
Suh-Fang Jeng, member of Taiwan Physical Therapy Association, was elected as vice president of World Physiotherapy.Â
The Europe Region of World Physiotherapy acknowledges the work of Emma Stokes and Melissa Locke as president and vice president of World Physiotherapy and wishes them the best for the future.Â
The General Meeting also made awards to a number of physiotherapists recognising their role and contribution to the physiotherapy community worldwide.
Esther-Mary D'Arcy was recognised as an exemplary leader for her work as chairperson of the Europe Region.Â
