Denmark takes over from Poland and assumes the Presidency of the Council of the European Union from 1 July to 31 December. The Presidency will take the second shift of the trio with Poland and Cyprus and will operate under the overarching theme “A Strong Europe in a Changing World.”
The Danish Presidency has set a working programme that highlights the following relevant areas to the field of physiotherapy:
Health and well-being: Aligned with the European Care Strategy, Denmark will prioritise the future of ageing supporting initiatives to improve the quality and accessibility of long-term care services and address workforce challenges in the care sector.
Healthy and safe working lives: A strong focus has been placed on improving occupational health and safety.
Workers mobility: Denmark will prioritise progress on the coordination of social security systems to support mobility across Member States.
Sport: Building on its recent membership in the Council of Europe’s Enlarged Partial Agreement on Sport (EPAS), Denmark will promote safe, transparent, inclusive and ethical sporting environments across Europe.
