Meeting with the Ministry and Health Ministry of Romania in Bucharest | 26th Feb - 1st March 2023

On 24th and 25th February 2023, the Professional Practice Working Group met in Cluj-Napoca, Romania and its members held several presentations at the Faculty of Physical Education & Sport of Babes-Bolyai University.

After these events, Esther-Mary D’Arcy, Chair of the Professional Practice WG and the Europe Region of World Physiotherapy, travelled to Bucharest where the President of the Order of Physiotherapists of Romania, Daniela Stanca, received her.

While in Bucharest, Esther-Mary D’Arcy met the President of the Committee for Health of the Senate of Romania, Prof. Adrian Streinu-Cercel. D’Arcy expressed the support of the Europe Region towards improving the level of physiotherapy education in the country by assisting in the creation of a 4 year university curriculum.

Attendance to the 80th Anniversary of the Finnish Association of Physiotherapists in Helsinki | 22nd-24th March 2023

From 22nd to 24th March 2023 Esther-Mary D’Arcy, Chair of the Europe Region of World Physiotherapy, attended the celebrations for the 80th anniversary of the Finnish Association of Physiotherapists in Helsinki. 

During the event, Esther-Mary D’Arcy met with the President and Vice-President of the association (Tiina Mäkinen and Tanja Balk). She also had time to visit the office of the Finnish Association of Physiotherapists where she met the members of the staff. 

While in Helsinki, she took the opportunity to visit the only Swedish speaking university in Finland, the University of Acada.

Attendance of the 2nd International Conference of the Order of Physiotherapists of Kosovo and meeting with the Health Minister in Pristina | 3rd-7th May 2023

From 3rd to 7th May 2023 Esther-Mary D’Arcy, Chair of the Europe Region of World Physiotherapy, and Tim Nemeth, 2nd Vice-Chair, attended the 2nd International Conference of the Order of Physiotherapists of Kosovo in Pristina.

During the 1st day of the conference, Esther-Mary D’Arcy met with the Minister for Health of Kosovo.

While in Kosovo, Esther-Mary D’Arcy and Tim Nemeth had the chance to hold meetings with representatives from several Member Organisations:

• Albanian Association of Physiotherapists

• Chamber of Physiotherapists of Montenegro; and

• Macedonian Society of Physiotherapists 

National Congress of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Association of Physiotherapists | 18th-21st May 2023

From 18th to 21st May 2023 Carmen Suárez, 1st Vice-Chair of the Europe Region of World Physiotherapy, attended the National Congress of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Association of Physiotherapists in Tuzla.

Prior to the opening ceremony, Carmen Suarez met with Mirjana Dujmovic, president of the Association of Physiotherapists in Bosnia and Herzegovina. During the Congress Carmen Suarez presented the role of the Europe Region of World Physiotherapy and the importance of regulation for the physiotherapy profession.
