Peeking over borders: research and good practice – Austria, Slovenia and Italy joint symposium | 8–9 September 2023 (Klagenfurt, Austria)

The Europe Region’s Member Organisations from Austria (PhysioAustria), Italy (AIFI) and Slovenia (ZFS) held a joint symposium on research and good practices on the occasion of World Physiotherapy Day.

Fysioterapi 2023 - National Conference of Fysioterapeuterna | 4-5 October 2023 (Gotherburg, Sweden)

Fysioterapeuterna, Swedish Member Organisation of the Europe Region, held in Gothenburg the National Physiotherapy Conference “Fysioterapi 2023”.

Esther-Mary D'Arcy, Chair of the Europe Region, attended the event which was focused on Sustainable Development.

This year’s Conference was even more special due to the 80th anniversary of the Swedish Association of Physiotherapists, congratulations!

National Congress of the Order of Physiotherapists in Romania | 6-8 October 2023 (Timisoara, Romania) 

The Order of Physiotherapists in Romania held their national congress in Timisoara. 

Esther-Mary D’Arcy addressed all the attendees through a video presentation that was displayed during the event. 

CSP Annual Conference | 7 November 2023 (Belfast, United Kingdom) The Chartered Society of Physiotherapists held their annual conference which took place, for the first time, in 4 different countries over the course of 2 weeks with a hybrid format. 

Esther-Mary D’Arcy attended the event in Belfast and did a presentation on the role of the Europe Region. 

III Italian National Congress of the Italian Association of Physiotherapy | 10-11 November 2023 (Bologna, Italy)

The Italian Association of Physiotherapists (AIFI) held their 3rd National Congress in Bologna.

Loredana Gigli, member of the Cancer and Professional Practice Working Groups of the Europe Region, attended the Congress and presented a poster on the role of physiotherapy in cancer care based on the document developed during the 2020-2022 term.

XVII Spanish National Conference of the Spanish Association of Physiotherapists | 24 November 2023 (Cáceres, Spain)

The Spanish Association of Physiotherapists (AEF) held their XVII National Conference focusing on “Specialisation in Physiotherapy”.

Esther-Mary D’Arcy, Chair of the Europe Region, attended the event and gave a speech during the opening ceremony.

The Congress grabbed great attention with more than 700 attendees and more than 120 speakers in the field of 15 different specialties.

STAKEHOLDERS

18th EFPC Conference | 18-19 September 2023 (Barcelona, Spain)

4 members of the Europe Region attended the 18th Conference of the European Forum for Primary Care (EFPC) promoting the work of the organisation.

Maria-Louisa Busuttil, Executive Committee member, presented a poster on the “Harmonisation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)” and chaired with Snježana Schuster, member of the Education & Research Working Group, a panel debate on physiotherapy and primary care. Alex Mackenzie, member of the Professional Practice Working Group and Cancer Working Group, joined online to explain how physiotherapists in primary care are crucial. Cristina Bravo, member of the Mental Health Working Group, presented a poster on how physiotherapy tackles mental health problems in adolescents through physical activity and lifestyle education. She also showcased the role of physiotherapy in mental health during the panel debate, chaired by Maria-Louisa Busuttil, on mental health policies accompanied by representatives of WHO Europe, EFPC and the education community.

EFIC Congress | 20 September 2023 (Budapest,Hungary)

Nirit Rotem, member of the Cancer and Professional Practice Working Groups of the Europe Region, attended the Congress of the European Pain Federation (EFIC) and presented a poster on the role of physiotherapy in cancer care based on the document developed during the 2020-2022 term.

V Physiotherapy Congress of ICOFCV | 9-11 November 2023 (Valencia, Spain)

Miguel Pérez Navarro, staff member of the Europe Region, attended the V Physiotherapy Congress of the Order of Physiotherapists of the Valencian Region (ICOFCV) focused on physiotherapy in cancer care.

Miguel, who is a registered physiotherapist in Belgium, closed the event with a presentation on the role of physiotherapy in cancer care and the work from the Europe Region to promote it at European level. During his presentation, he highlighted the involvement of the Spanish Member Organisation (AEF) with the overall work of the Europe Region and in particular in the field of oncology. 

European Cancer Summit of ECO | 15-16 November 2023 (Brussels, Belgium)

Nele Adriaenssens, member of the Cancer Working Group, attended the Cancer Summit organised by the European Cancer Organisation (ECO) on behalf of the Europe Region. 

The event included experts on oncology, health care associations representatives, members of the European Institutions, including Stella Kyriakides (EU Commissioner for Health), and representatives of the World Health Organisation (WHO) among others.

I National Congress of FNOFI | 14-16 December 2023 (Rome, Italy)

Esther-Mary D’Arcy, Chair of the Europe Region, attended the first national congress of the Italian Order of Physiotherapists. 

She did a presentation on the challenges of physiotherapy in the global health scenario.
