MEMBER ORGANISATIONS OF THE EUROPE REGION: 

Celebration of 60th anniversary of the Pan Hellenic Association | 14-18 June 2024 (Athens, Greece)

Esther-Mary D’Arcy, Chair of the Europe Region of World Physiotherapy was invited to the 60th anniversary of the Pan Hellenic Association. The Greek Member Organisation held the event in Athens from 14-18 June 2024. Mike Landry, president of World Physiotherapy also attended the event.

During her visit to Greece, Esther-Mary D'Arcy met the Minister of Health to discuss the state of physiotherapy in the public sector.

XIV Congress & I International Congress of the Hungarian Physiotherapy Association | 12-15 September 2024 (Pécs, Hungary)

The Hungarian Physiotherapy Association held its XIV Congress in Pécs from 12-15 September 2024. It was the first edition where speakers from other countries participated in the event.

Esther-Mary D'Arcy, Chair of the Europe Region of World Physiotherapy, was invited to attend and to speak during the opening panel to do a presentation on the work of the Europe Region.

VII National Physiotherapy Congress of the Order of Physiotherapists in Romania | 11-13 October 2024 (Sibiu, Romania) 

The Order of Physiotherapists in Romania held its VII National Physiotherapy Congress in Sibiu from 11-13 October 2024. 300 people attended in person and around 2000 attended online to the hybrid event. 

Michele Cannone, Executive Committee Member of the Europe Region of World Physiotherapy, was invited to attend. He spoke during the opening session and participated as a keynote speaker in the specific session on Physiotherapy in cancer. During the last day of the event, Michele Cannone also had the opportunity to give a motivational talk on professional autonomy.

Advancing Healthcare Awards | 10 October 2024 (Belfast, UK)

The Advancing Healthcare Awards were held in Belfast on 10 October 2024 with the Northern Ireland Minister for Health, Mike Nesbit, as a guest speaker.

Esther-Mary D’Arcy, Chair of the Europe Region of World Physiotherapy, was invited by the Northern Ireland region of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSPNI) to represent the Europe Region at a table hosted by them.

Congratulations to the three physiotherapists who were awarded and to all the nominees!

70th Anniversary of the Slovenian Association of Physiotherapists | 20 November 2024 (Portoroz, Slovenia)

On 20 November 2024 the Slovenian Association of Physiotherapists celebrated the 70th Anniversary of the organisation. 

Esther-Mary D’Arcy, Chair of the Europe Region of World Physiotherapy, attended the event on behalf of the Europe Region of World Physiotherapy and gave a presentation on "How the Physiotherapist Can Empower Active Patient Engagement in Physiotherapy – A Practical Approach".  

The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr. Nataša Pirc Musar attended the event and bestowed a national award upon Ms. Marija Kandus, the Slovenian association’s first president, who also received a certificate from the Europe Region for her lifelong service to the profession.

Fizio Kongres Hrvatske Zagreb | 6-8 December 2024 (Zagreb, Croatia)

The Croatian Council of Physiotherapists held its Physiotherapy Congress in Zagreb from 6-8 December 2024 with around 100 participants.

Tim Németh, 2nd Vice-Chairperson of the Europe Region of World Physiotherapy, was invited to speak about the importance of formal post-graduate education for physiotherapists and to participate in panel discussions on primary care and PhD programmes for physiotherapists.

During the event, Tim Németh also met with Mike Landry, president of World Physiotherapy and representatives of Balkan Member Organisations.

MEMBER ORGANISATIONS OF WORLD PHYSIOTHERAPY:

IV International Congress of Physiotherapists of Montenegro | 27-28 September 2024 (Montenegro) 

The Chamber of Physiotherapists of Montenegro held their 6th edition of the international congress from 27-28 September 2024. 

Tim Németh, 2nd Vice-Chairperson of the Europe Region, was invited to speak at the opening and to give both a keynote speech and participate in a workshop on Continuing Professional Development.

ENPHE Spring Conference | 11-13 April 2024 (A Coruña, Spain)

The European Network of Physiotherapy in Higher Education (ENPHE) held its Spring Seminar in A Coruña from 11-13 April 2024.

Carmen Suárez Serrano, 1st Vice-Chairperson of the Europe Region, attended the event and participated in the Professional Issues Working Group sessions, where she represented the Europe Region.

EU4Health Stakeholders Conference | 19 June 2024 (Brussels, Belgium)

EU4Health held its Stakeholders Conference in Brussels on 19 June 2024 focusing on important health priorities. It offered an opportunity to reflect on priorities, strategic orientations, and future work programs covering the following topics: Health promotion & disease prevention, Health systems, Crisis Preparedness, Cancer, and Digital Health.

Esther-Mary D’Arcy, Chair of the Europe Region of World Physiotherapy, attended the event on behalf of the Europe Region of World Physiotherapy..

FisioExpo | 26-29 September 2024 (Madrid, Spain)

FISIOEXPO is an event for physiotherapy professionals from Spain and Portugal. Sales representatives present their products and services, technological advances and innovative proposals in the sector. This year's congress was held in Madrid from 26-29 September 2024 and it focused on groin pain through lectures, workshops, round tables, etc.

Esther-Mary D’Arcy, Chair of the Europe Region of World Physiotherapy, attended the event accompanied by representatives from the Spanish Association of Physiotherapists to inspect the facilities and assess the organisation of the event.
